Terms of service

These terms apply to the Thrive app (Thrive: Fitness & Nutrition), the Thrive web app and thrivefitness.co.za. By creating an account or using Thrive you agree to them.

What Thrive is

Thrive is a fitness and nutrition tracker. It lets you log food and workouts, follow your progress and chat to an AI coach.

Not medical advice

Thrive provides general fitness and nutrition information. Calorie and macro estimates, including those from photos, are approximations. Nothing in the app is medical advice or a substitute for a doctor, dietitian or other qualified professional. Speak to a professional before starting a new diet or exercise programme, especially if you have a health condition, are pregnant, or have a history of disordered eating.

Your account

You must be 16 or older to use Thrive. Keep your login details private. You are responsible for activity on your account.

Subscriptions and billing

• Thrive is a paid membership: R149 per month or R1,490 per year. Prices are in South African rand and may change with notice.
• New members get a 3-day free trial. A payment card is required to start the trial.
• If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your membership starts and your card is charged for the plan you chose.
• Your membership renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
• Payments are processed by Paystack. We do not store your card details.

Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel at any time in the app under Profile, then Subscription. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not give partial refunds for unused time, except where the law requires it. Full details are on our Cancelling your subscription page.

AI features and fair use

Your membership includes 300 AI actions per month (photo scans, voice logs and coach messages). Limits exist to keep the service reliable for everyone and may be adjusted.

Charity contribution

We set aside 10% of every membership payment and pay it to our registered charity partner. See our Giving back page. The contribution is made by Thrive from its own revenue. It is not a donation made by you and is not tax-deductible for you.

Referrals

Referral rewards are only earned on genuine, paying sign-ups. We may withhold or reverse rewards obtained through self-referral, fake accounts or other abuse.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse Thrive. That includes trying to access other people's accounts or data, reverse-engineering or scraping the service, abusing free trials, or using the AI features to generate harmful or unlawful content.

Your content

Your logs and data remain yours. You give us permission to store and process them so that the app can work, as described in our Privacy policy.

Our content

The Thrive name, logo, app and its content belong to us or our licensors. You may use them only as part of using the app.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time. See our Account and data deletion page. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

Liability

Thrive is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for injury resulting from exercise or dietary choices you make. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other law that cannot be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.

Changes

We may update these terms. If the changes are significant we will let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use Thrive after a change means you accept the new terms.
